Too young for dentures? Try dental implants in Sydney CBD
It happens to a lot of young Aussies. It’s because we are always outside doing slightly dangerous but exhilarating things like surfing, mountain biking and playing rugby. One moment you’ve got all your teeth and next you’ve had a surfboard, a tree or someone’s knee in your face and you are spitting blood and bits of tooth. You’ll be fine, of course, but it’s all over for your front teeth and now you have a big gap where your winning smile used to be.
Back in the old days, at this point, you’d be looking at having a couple of false teeth on a bridge that would be fixed to the teeth either side of the gap. Or you’d have a plate that would fit behind your other teeth. The bridge would mean losing 2 more teeth to act as supports. The plate would mean having a whole new thing in your mouth to collect food under and click and make you less kissable.
These days, at Spa Dental Sydney CBD, we find that most young people would far rather have dental implants in Sydney CBD. Being young, this may well be your first encounter with the ins and outs of tooth replacement, so you will know nothing about dental implants. Let’s explain how they work.
What are dental implants in Sydney CBD?
Dental implants replace the roots of the teeth. They are tapered posts or screws made of titanium with an internal thread. The implant goes into your jawbone in a minor procedure that we carry out under local anaesthetic.
Once the implant is in place, it takes 2-6 months for it to bond with your jawbone. Then, we put a connecting piece into it and your replacement crowns (the white part) goes onto the connector. One dental implant can hold up to 3 crowns on a bridge.
Once your implant treatment is all done, you just treat your implant like a natural tooth, making sure to keep it clean twice a day, and free from plaque. It won’t decay but it can be affected by gum disease. If you take care of it, it could last for decades.
