Options for dental implants
If you are hoping to have dental implants in Sydney CBD but discover that your jawbone isn’t dense enough to support them, you still have options.
Consultation for dental implants in Sydney CBD
The first step to having dental implants is to come to Spa Dental Sydney CBD for a consultation. At the consultation you will be asked lots of questions about your medical history, lifestyle and habits. We will also talk to you about how you want your smile to look at the end of the treatment. The dentist will give you an in-depth oral examination, and take x-rays and photographs of your mouth and teeth. This will tell us whether extra procedures will be necessary prior to the implants being fitted.
Bone grafts
If you have worn dentures for several years, you are likely to have suffered some bone loss in your jaw. This is a natural progression once you have lost some teeth, but it doesn’t mean you can’t still have dental implants in Sydney CBD. Bone grafts may be an option for you, and they will not only support the implants but will reduce the sunken face that bone loss can induce.
The bone graft may be taken from another part of your body, usually your chin or hip, or it may be that using synthetic bone is the best option for you. Taking the bone for the graft is a routine operation, and the dentist will then insert the bone into your jaw. The bone will mesh with your jawbone naturally over a period of healing. Once this is complete, the dental implants can be fitted.
Sinus lift
If your upper jaw has receded due to years of wearing dentures, you may require a sinus lift prior to being fitted with dental implants in Sydney CBD. Like a bone graft, the bone can be taken from elsewhere in your body, or other tissue sources or synthetic bone may be used.
Zygomatic implants
Zygomatic implants may be an alternative option to a sinus lift or bone graft for you. These use longer screws than standard dental implants, so they can be inserted into the cheekbone.
