Invisalign, putting straight teeth within reach!
In a world where communication and image have become increasingly synonymous, being able to produce a smile with healthy straight teeth is essential. It is also encouraging to know that the improvements in technology now allow us to tackle virtually any dental misalignment condition. In the late nineteen nineties a new system to tackle misaligned teeth was invented. This system spread around the world and Invisalign Sydney is part of that major achievement. Spa Dental Sydney is one of only two practices in Sydney to be awarded diamond provider status by this global juggernaut. Not only do we use this system but our Doctor Neville teaches other dentists how to use it. He is also involved in new developments around future products. You can therefore be confident that we have the expertise and knowledge to help you with your dental misalignment problems.
More than a dental appliance
Invisalign works by creating a personally designed appliance, using the latest computer technology which resembles a gumshield, that fits over your teeth. Unlike dental braces which are fitted to the front or back of your teeth, Invisalign Sydney not only fits over your teeth but during treatment allows you to remove the aligners for eating or brushing your teeth. The concept is totally different to the traditional dental braces. It’s not only the dental appliance itself that has given us a different method but the equipment that has been developed alongside the dental appliance. A 3D scanner called iTero is used, which is a handheld optical wand. This piece of equipment sends images straight to the laboratory. In the past when being fitted for dental braces you had to have dental putty placed in your mouth, everything is now digitised. No putty required and it’s much quicker and more efficient. Every dental procedure requires a treatment plan and Invisalign Sydney uses a purpose built software package to ensure great efficiency.
Your decision
Your decision to proceed with treatment will be based on images of your current dental condition and computer generated projections of how your teeth could look after treatment. To not have to try and imagine but rather to see actual virtual images is a great help when making decisions.
How does it work?
Using digital equipment has made the whole procedure extremely efficient. We will analyse the images that we receive from the system and make a diagnosis. We can then start to create your treatment plan using the software. Your condition will allow us to determine the optimum duration of the treatment to achieve the best results. The system will produce a series of devices, referred to as aligners. Each aligner has its own unique shape and is designed to fit into a carefully calculated sequence. The aligners are made from a clear patented thermoplastic which makes them inconspicuous, so your treatment is discreet. You are required to wear each one for two to three weeks before moving on to the next. Each one in the set will move your teeth so that the next can be used and so on until the desired position is reached. During the treatment the aligners can be removed but must be worn for a minimum of twenty-two hours per day.
Monitor progress
During treatment you can send photos of your teeth to us and we can give you feedback about your progress. This allows you to be able to interact with us and discuss your progress.
Completion
At the end of treatment there is one final retainer that you will need to wear to hold your teeth in their new position which will help them to settle. You can, of course, remove the aligner to show your friends and family your beautiful, even broad smile.
All treatment carries risks. Individual consultation is required with one of our practitioners to ensure that the treatment is right for you.
