Do oral implants fall out? Is it cheaper to have them fitted abroad?

These are some of the most commonly asked questions about implants online and around the world in dental surgeries.

At Spa Dental, we have treated hundreds of patients using dental implants Sydney and can answer any questions you have about this ever-popular procedure.

Read on for the answers to the most frequently asked questions we receive about dental implants Sydney.

How much do oral implants cost?

In short, there is no set price for dental implants Sydney.

The cost includes the number of implants, the surgery, potential additional features (such as bone grafts) and may also include additional X-rays throughout the fusing.

How long do oral implants last?

If you provide them with good aftercare, implants can last up to and over 15 years without any problem.

This means regular dental check-ups, brushing your teeth twice a day and of course, keeping an eye out for issues such as gum disease which can cause them to come loose.

You should also refrain from smoking or drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, as this can cause the gums to shrink back and may lead to an early expulsion of the implants.

Can you secure dentures with oral implants?

Yes, you can and our team can happily provide this service for you.

This does not need the use of one implant per tooth, instead it essentially involves our team fitting 4 implants on each jaw and attaching the dentures to them.

This allows you to retain the dentures you have without needing to worry about them moving or causing other complications.

As is the way with oral implant fitting, we will need to assess the strength of your jaw before we fit the implants, and will aim to fit them in predetermined locations to ensure that the dentures attach securely.

Can you get oral implants abroad for cheaper?

Technically, yes you can, but be aware that with the reduced costs come other complications.

For instance, oral implants fitted in the UK include the most up-to-date equipment being used, along with the most modern machinery and techniques to ensure that the fitting is a success. Should you choose to go abroad to have implants fitted, then the standard of care is likely to be lower, and you may lose your implants sooner or suffer complications after they are fitted.

Is anyone suitable for having oral implants fitted?

Unfortunately, as is the way with most kinds of cosmetic or restorative procedures, there are a few things that can disqualify you from having oral implants fitted, or can make it a bit more complicated.

As an example, if you are suffering from osteoporosis, our team will need to take in-depth X-rays of your jaw to assess its suitability to have implants fitted. If you have a more minor or early-stage case of osteoporosis, then we may be able to fit the implants without too much trouble. But, if we discover that your case is a bit more advanced, then we may need to recommend a suitable alternative for you.

However, if you have good oral health, good general health and have a sturdy jawbone, then it is likely that you will be suitable to have oral implants.
