A different approach

Invisalign Sydney is a modern treatment created in the late nineteen nineties which takes into account that modern society desires a dental treatment that is discreet. This treatment works differently to conventional braces which require blocks to be fitted to the inside or outside of your teeth and then wires and bands to be used to apply the necessary pressure to move your teeth. Dental aligners replace the blocks, wires and bands and resemble gum shields which fit over your teeth. They are made from a clear thermoplastic so they are not easily discernible. A series of precisely moulded aligners will be created, each one is designed slightly differently, to gradually move your teeth to the precise location calculated by the software.

Precision

As you would expect, technology is heavily involved in the treatment to achieve the accuracy that is required for this treatment to deliver the results that you want. Using an iTero scanner which produces 3D images of the entire interior of your mouth and X-rays we can produce an image of your future smile. The hardware and software developed around this product allows us to produce these images and to communicate with the laboratory. This speeds up the process and allows us to quickly make any adjustments necessary. The software ensures that your new aligners are precisely crafted to accurately work only on your teeth. The number of aligners required will depend on the nature of your condition. The duration of the entire treatment is also dependent on your condition and can be anywhere from six months to eighteen months.

Getting started

When your aligners arrive we will ask you to come into our dental practice for a fitting and explanation of what to do and what not to do. Once you are fitted with your first aligner you may experience some discomfort which is perfectly normal. You will need to wear your aligners every day for at least twenty-two hours each day. You are able to remove them to allow you to eat, brush your teeth and to clean them. Each aligner will take between two to three weeks to do its job before you can move on to the next one. We like to monitor your progress in between visits and there is an Invisalign Sydney app using your smartphone which provides this facility. Depending on your progress a visit to our dental practice, every four to six weeks, is necessary.
